Last week Lane gave a Family home evening lesson on Adversity. He talked about how coal and diamonds are made of the same elements. The only difference between them is the experience that they have been through. When coal is subjected to extremely high pressures and heat the carbon turns into a diamond. Then he talked about how we are like the coal. We change and become different when we have trials in our lives. Sometimes we become angry and bitter from our trials. And other times we are strengthened from our experiences. "My people must be tried in all things, that they may be prepared to receive the glory that I have for them." (D&C 136:31).
It is through are trials that we become like dimonds.
